Allen Dale Baker, 58, of Cedar Falls, died peacefully at the Martin Care Center on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born July 3, 1965, the son of Forrest and Joyce (Kerkhoff) Baker.

Allen had Downs Syndrome and attended River Hills School in Cedar Falls until he was 21. Northstar Community Services cared for Allen until he broke his hip in October of 2020. Allen was in Deery Suites in Cedar Falls for rehab and then at EPI for a short time. Allen came to the Martin Care center in April of 2021.

Allen enjoyed playing drums, dancing, and being in the plays that Northstar Community Services put on. Allen was always a happy, loveable person. Everyone under Allen's care loved his hugs and easygoing nature. Allen will certainly be missed by all his family and caregivers.

Allen leaves behind his brothers: Larry D Baker, Lee D Baker (Sharon), Lynn D. Baker (Pearl), and step brother Pete Baker; his sister Lillian McFall, and step sister Lynette Banks (Harry); nephews: John Baker (Connie), Steve Baker (Kimbra), Ryan Baker, Eric Baker (Lisa), and Alex Reed; nieces: Robin Baker, and Lauren Silk; and several grand nieces and nephews; and 2nd cousins Lori Naaktgeboren, and Steve Graham.

He was preceded in his death by his parents, and stepfather Leonard Sommers; sisters in law Lauraine Baker and Coral Baker; grandmother Lillian Hoel; Aunt and Uncle Art and Lola Jorgenson; and cousins Judy and Bud Graham.

Services will be held at Waterloo First United Methodist Church on Friday March 8, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place in Elmwood cemetery.

Condolences

I remember Al from many years ago when his Dad and Mom were members of the Moose Lodge. He was such a delight to be around him. May he Rest In Peace in God's loving arms

To the Family of Allen Baker: I am Larry Millang. I was Allen's Riverhills teacher during the 1979-80 and 1980-81 school years. Alllen was a great young man in my classroom. He worked so hard and maintained a positive outlook on the people around him. I recall him struggling to learn the difference between a nickel and a quarter.. He maintained his happy outlook on his school work, classmates, and teachers as he leaned! I am sure Allen holds a special place in your hearts as he does for those who knew him. My deepest sympathies. Larry Millang
