Theronne "Dean" Bellinger died Friday, October 20, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center-Waterloo.

Dean was born on February 28, 1943, to Shelby and Eileen Loveless Bellinger of La Porte City. Dean began working at 9 years old, helping his father mow cemeteries and would then go on to do road construction and drive semi. Dean's father introduced him to steam engines which would grow into them creating Black Hawk County Steam Engine Club in the late 1950's, now known as Antique Acres. The 5th generation of Bellinger's are now left to cherish this passion as well. On April 10, 1965, Dean started dating Janice Lyons, they then got engaged on May 14, 1965, and then married on July 24, 1965. There was a bet by Dean's friends that it wouldn't last six months... they have been married for 58 years.

To this marriage came three sons, Warren (Suzanne) of Denver, Terry (Lyndsay) of Eagleville, MO, and Tony (Lori) of Dysart. Dean was proud of his 7 grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda), Shelby (Taylor), Shianne (Wade), Elizabeth (Bruce), Neesa (Tanner), Cole Kenneth, and Dakota. Dean was blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Cole Jon, Brynlee, Kayson, Hudson, and Lettie Mae. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Charlene) Bellinger of MN and his beloved 4-legged companion, Snowball.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Also for one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Funeral Service at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Locke at Tower Park.

A private burial will take place at West View Cemetery.

Per Dean's request, no flowers or tears-memorials may be directed to the family as a memorial fund has been established. Locke at Tower Park, 319-233-3146, is assisting the family.

Thoughts and prayers to the family. Bellingers were well known in my hometown. Remember talking with Dean at Antique Acres different times John and I were there. We even delivered a steam engine to Warren years ago.

Thoughts and prayers for Dean and the has family. Working with Dean over the years we got to know each other. And later running into to him and Janice at our favorite restaurants or car show was a treat.

Along with our thoughts and prayers our family has many happy memories with Dean, Janice and family at Steam Shows around the country dating back to the late 50's. We will miss him. Thankfully the legacy Dean left will continue be present at the shows and because of that a strong legacy, part of Dean will be there as well. From the first match in the firebox to the last ember around the campfire we will remember and treasure the time we have been honored to share. Rest in Peace our Dear Friend. The Rupert's,

Dennis Rupert
