I have so many wonderful memories of Elma during high school. She came to darn near every cross country and track meet, driving to the corners of Iowa to be there. Such a special lady and truly a gem. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Daryl and family - so shocked to learn of Elma's passing. She was loved dearly by so many of us, and her message touched the lives of many, many people. She has left a legacy of knowing your value - that $20 bill that doesn't loose its worth no matter what condition it is in. She will be remembered by so many who heard her message of resiliency. Elma was truly a sweet and giving lady. She spoke to our Victim Impact classes for years. We became so very fond of her. Her stories were vulnerable, remarkable and so moving. She changed lives with her generosity. God's Blessings to all.

Devastated to lose dear Elma from afar... She was an AMAZING woman, with the biggest heart--she and Daryl's special strong unconditional love touched me and so many others. I'm proud to count her as dear friend, confidante, mentor and second mother. I find comfort in believing she is still with us, amongst the fairies in the garden and all around, encouraging us all to live loudly into our dreams.
