Condolences

Mike, Dave, Ludeen, and Mrs. Ohl- I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Ohl’s death. He was a wonderful neighbor growing up and always kind to all of us neighbor kids running around his yard. Many good memories growing up on Primrose and Veralta. My condolences to all of you.

John Wood

Blessings on you Linda and family. I enjoyed Larry's Facebook posts in recent years. He was so faithful at St. Andrew's and a good neighbor.

Phil & Diane Ohl

Wonderful obituary off a loving family man with an amazing wife and incredible children & grands. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.

Dennis & Ruth Andrew

A lot of us from East High ‘56 are already missing Larry. He kept many of us cringing at his political comments, but laughing all the way. His love of family, friends and the Lord has always been evident. Many blessings on Linda and his family.

Ao sorry to hear this. I got to know Larry 40 (!) years ago when I started working full time at the Courier and he served on the Cedar Falls Planning and Zoning Commission -- and I found out after that my oldest brother Mike worked for him at Eagle's. I also did a business story with him for the Courier on locally owned grocery stores, I think when he was at S&S -- he was a wealth of local history and I was very grateful for that. I knew his sense of humor well. I called the house and the answering machine said leave a recording "because our vicious attack dog Pepper doesn't take messages." Also surprised to see him with me on the visiting sideline at a Columbus football game. Tyler and my son Brian were a year apart at Marion and football teammates, so I had good company, even if I felt a little awkward sitting on the opposing sideline of my alma mater.. Always enjoyed Larry and appreciated his support -- he definitely kept me on my toes with his gentle ribbing. Talking to Larry was like trying to catch a knuckleball from a wily pitcher -- you never knew what direction the pitch was going to take, and you better have a big glove. :) He made the job and life fun.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was very young when your family lived by us on Black Hawk Road but I remember all of you very well. I remember going with my mom to get groceries at Eagle's and the two fun things I did during those days were seeing Larry & getting a box of Barnum's Animal Crackers. Fond memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
