Larry Eugene Andersen, 86, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, October 9, 2024, while a resident at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. He was born August 17, 1938, the son of Holger and Lucretia Andersen. He graduated from Orange High School and married Gretchen Marx Buck on October 12, 1974, in McGregor, IA. Larry owned Andy's Plumbing and Heating.
Larry loved spending time on the Mississippi River and hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. A man who was always in a good mood, Larry was very outgoing with a great disposition. He enjoyed music, collecting trains, his Corvettes and especially enjoyed the Blue Man Group and Jeremiah Johnson.
Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gretchen; his children Kelli (Steve) Hubert of Waterloo, Thad Andersen of Waterloo, and Eric Sverdahl of Palm Beach, FL; stepsons Todd Buck of Oelwein and Tim (Sherry) Buck of Waterloo; 2 step grandsons, Nathan Buck of Evansdale and Jacob Buck of Jersey City, NJ; and brothers Jack (Lynn) Andersen of Homeland, CA and Jim (Linda) Andersen of Windsor, CO. He was preceded in death by his brother Dick (Jenny) Andersen of Venice, FL.
Memorial service for Larry will be Monday, October 14, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1149 Hammond Ave., Waterloo with private burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Memorials should be directed to St Croix Hospice or a charity of donor's choice in Larry's memory.
